Winners June/July 2020 Brigitte Poirson Poetry Contest Announced
The organisers of the Brigitte Poirson Poetry Contest, Words Rhymes and Rhythms (WRR), has announced the top three entries for the June/July 2020 edition of the prize.
The edition which was themed “Mother Tongue” had the following winners: Olowo Qudus Opeyemi, first prize, for his poem, Ode To Mother Tongue; Ude Vivian Chidimma, second prize for her poem, The Tongueless; and Abah Abah Oyagaba, third prize for his poem, Tongue of Mother.
The trio will receive a cash prize of ₦30,000 — ₦15,000, ₦10,000, and ₦5,000 for the first, second and third places respectively.
The top 20 entries of the edition have also been published in a chapbook titled, An Ode To Mother Tongue. Download for free here.

The BRIGITTE POIRSON POETRY CONTEST is a writing contest aimed at rewarding the under-appreciated talent of young Nigerian poets. It was instituted in February 2015 in honour of Brigitte Poirson, a French poet and lecturer, editor, who has over the years worked assiduously to promote and support African poetry.
