Sanni Oluwatimileyin is the Winner of the SprinNG Annual Poetry Contest
Nigerian poet, Sanni Oluwatimileyin has won the SprinNG Annual Poetry Contest for his poem “Bitter roots”.
This was announced via a press release by the organisers of the contest, SprinNG on 1 August 2020.
The contest which is used to mark the anniversary of SprinNG opened for submissions on March 1, 2020 and closed on June 30. It received a total of 1125 submissions which has been the highest so far.
Entrants were asked to write a simple poem on any theme of their choice between 8-10 lines.
These submissions were reviewed and judged by a number of established poets including Aremu Adebisi, Pamilerin Jacob, Adedayo Agarau, Mbanefo Chibuike and Kizito Okorowu.
In reaction to the win, Sanni Oluwatimileyin expressed his excitement via a tweet.
It reads in part, “So excited to receive this news.
“Out of 1,125 submissions, my poem "Bitter roots" won the Sprinng annual poetry contest 2020…”
He thereafter thanked the judges.

Popoola Oluwatobiloba Samuel for Home.
Oluwatimileyin will receive a cash prize of 15,000 Naira and Gift-Card to shop at Roving Heights worth 10,000 Naira.
