Report: Onyinkan Braithwaite’s Debut Novel Shortlisted For 2020’s Goldsboro Books Glass Bell Award

Oyinkan Braithwaite's darkly comic debut "My Sister, the Serial Killer" has made it to the shortlist for the 2020's Goldsboro Books Glass Bell Award.
The award organizers made this known via an announcement two days ago on their Instagram.
"Today we are so thrilled to announce the shortlist for the Goldsboro Books #Glassbell Awards 2020" they posted alongside the book covers of the shortlisted books.
The award which was established in 2017 by Goldsboro Books seeks to award novels with "compelling storytelling with brilliant characterisation and a distinct voice that is confidently written and assuredly realised.”
Described as one of the best books published in 2019, "My Sister, the Serial Killer" was shortlisted among other five award-winning novels. The all-women shortlist include: Bernardine Evaristo's Booker-winning "Girl, Woman, Other"; Oyinkan Braithwaite’s "My Sister, the Serial Killer"; Laura Shepherd-Robinso's "Blood & Sugar"; Anita Frank's "The Lost Ones"; Erin Morgenstern's "The Starless Sea" and Taylor Jenkins Reid's "Daisy Jones and The Six."
"This shortlist highlights six of the best writers of fiction around today – who all happen to be women! I’m looking forward to our judging discussions – there’s so much to be said about each one of these remarkable novels, and choosing a winner will be difficult but very rewarding." David Hadley, co-founder of the Goldsboro Books commented.
"The winner will be announced on 2nd July and will be awarded £2,000 and a hand-made, engraved glass bell." thebookseller reports.
Braithwaite’s impressive debut had before now been nominated for a number of prizes; the 2019 Goodreads Choice Awards for Best Debut Novel, the 2019 Goodreads Choice Awards for Best Mystery and Thriller, the 2019 Booker Prize, 2019 Women’s Prize among others. It also won the 2019 Anthony Award for Best First Novel and LA Times Book Prize for Mystery/Thriller.
In reaction, Braithwaite took to her Instagram her gratitude over making it to the shortlist. "I'm so grateful" She posted.
