Longlist of 2020 Aminiya-Trust Hausa Short Story Writing Competition Announced

The longlist of 2020 Aminiya-Trust Hausa Short Story Writing Competition has been recently announced by the organisers. 20 writers out of 268 submissions made it to the list.

The Aminiya-Trust Hausa Short Story Writing Competition is organised by Open Arts Foundation — an arts and literary collective based in Kaduna, Nigeria in collaboration with Gandun Kalmomi. The award is sponsored by Aminiya-Trust newspapers and “hopes to serve as a beacon for the development of Hausa literature.”

The contest opened for submissions on May 15 2020 and closed July 15 2020. Entrants were asked to write short stories in Hausa on the theme “Challenges of Democracy and Politicking in Nigeria” and stand a chance of winning N250,000 as first prize, N150,000 and N100,000 as second and third prize respectively.

The top 15 entries will be curated into anthology while the top three will be announced/awarded at a ceremony slated to hold on 2 January, 2021 at Kaduna, Nigeria.
