Griots Lounge to publish Romeo Oriogun’s next poetry collection
Canadian based publishing press, Griots Lounge has acquired the African publishing rights to Romeo Oriogun’s next collection of poetry, Nomad.
The poet announced this on Sunday, 16 August, 2020 via a tweet.
Griots Lounge was established in 2012. It was the publishing trademark of Yagazie Media Limited, based in Nigeria. In June, 2020 however, it became an independent publishing press headquartered in the city of Winnipeg, Canada and dedicated to publish and release a mix of African and North American books.
The outfit has published other Nigerian authors like Echezonachukwu Nduka, Nnamdi Oguike, Bura Bari Nwilo, Bibi Ukonu, Onyeka Nwelue, Chimee Adioha and others.
Romeo Oriogun is the author of Sacrament Of Bodies (University of Nebraska Press) and the chapbooks, Burnt Men and The Origin of Butterflies. The 2017 winner of the Brunel International African Poetry Prize, he has received fellowships from the Ebedi International Residency, Harvard University Department of English, Oregon Institute for Creative Research, and The Hutchins Center for African and African American Research. He currently lives in Iowa, where he is an MFA candidate for poetry at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
Nomad will be published in 2021 in both English and French. It will be his second full length poetry collection.
