Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s First Fiction Since Americanah Comes Out This Month

It’s been seven years since Americanah, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s last work of fiction was published. Although, there has been many more essays written by her like the book-length We Should All Be Feminists (Fourth Estate, 2014), and Dear Ijeawele (Knopf Publishers, 2017)and her most recent essay Notes on Grief, a personal and heart-wrenching essay about her father and grieving him. Fans of Chimamanda have long anticipated another fiction and they may not have to wait any longer.

EW confirmed Yesterday in an exclusive report that there is going to be a new fiction by Chimamanda. According to the report, it is a short story titled Zikora and will be released Oct. 27 as part of Amazon Original Stories (Prime members and Kindle Unlimited subscribers will be able to download it for free).

Zikora tells the story of a lawyer from Nigeria living in Washington, D.C., she is abandoned by her high-powered lover after she learns that she is pregnant and must grapple with the loss of her relationship while her demanding mother shows up to help ("help") prepare her for motherhood.

EW also published an excerpt from the story. Read it here.

We at Book O’Clock Review are excited about this and from the excerpt, we know it’s going to be a good story. It is Chimamanda after all.
