ALitFest20 is this August and Here is Everything we Know
Art festivals are special. They provide a platform for enthusiasts to interact with like minds; for readers to meet writers; for writers to meet readers and lots more. Is it the panels? The workshop? The poetry? The prose? The art pieces? Everything about Art festivals is superb. ALitFest20 promises same, albeit it being quite different from what we used to know.
Like most events since the pandemic, the third edition of the Abuja Literary and Arts Festival (ALitFest) will be a virtual festival held from the 13th to the 15th of August, 2020.
ALitFest is organised by the Abuja Literary Society and the theme of this year’s is “The Art of Empathy” which we think couldn’t be more timely. According to the organisers, “The Festival appoints this theme in hopes of highlighting the importance, beauty and need for diversity and difference as well as the role of the creative in building bridges within and across societies.”
ALitFest20 will feature panel discussions, book chats, poetry slam, writing competitions, online festival bookstores, online art exhibitions, film screenings, poetry readings, a virtual yoga session e.t.c.
With quite the ensemble guest list, a number of reputable authors/writers have confirmed attendance. Some of which are Romeo Oriogun, Dike Chukwumerije, Kola Tubosun, Chimee Adioha, Ekiti Edima Ette, Mohale Mashigo, J J Omojuwa, Masande Ntshanga, and many others.
Spoken word artistes are invited to submit their works for the grand poetry slam and earn an opportunity to win N200,000. See here for submission details.
