Accra Literary Prize Has Been Cancelled

The annual Accra Literary Prize has been cancelled indefinitely. This was contained in a press release by the organisers of the prize, Accra International Book Festival dated Tuesday, September 22, 2020.

According to the press release, the decision was reached “to pave way for a more sustainable restructuring of the literary award to make it competitive in the coming years.”

The organisers thereafter pledged to refund entry fees and books received from authors in 2019.

See press release below:

This however doesn’t stop the Accra Book Festival from holding. It will be a virtual event held from the 29th to 31st of October, 2020. Theme: Be Black, Think Black. Follow @acrabookfest on Twitter for more updates.
